I like the way that I see the world when I have my camera with me.  I slow down, I focus, I pay attention to details I might normally overlook. K got me a new camera for my birthday in 2010, and while I’ve brought it with me on vacations or had it by my side during holidays, I don’t feel like I know how to use it as well as I could, and certainly not nearly enough as I should.

So I’m starting a new project. Every day in 2012, I’ll take and post a photograph here. It’s not a new idea—lots of bloggers have done it before—but it seems like the right time for me to try. It’s a daunting idea right now, but also kind of exciting.  I hope that it will allow me to pay better attention—or at least pay a different kind of attention—to my life.
